ntl supports e-government in association with the LGA
12 May 2004 – ntl’s business division, a leading provider of
communications services to the public sector, has signed an
associate agreement with the LGA.
As e-Government Associate, ntl will be sharing its expertise and
best practice with the whole of local government, as the 2005
deadline for implementation of full e-Government draws closer. ntl
will be speaking at various Local Government Association (LGA)
events throughout the year and will work in association with the
LGA on e-Government issues, working with senior managers and
Elected Members within local government. The association initially
runs until the end of the year, and through the sharing of best
practice aims to continually enhance delivery of effective
e-services to all citizens by 2005 and beyond.
Catherine Sweet, Commercial Director of the LGA said: “The next
18 months will be a real challenge as councils strive to deliver
effective e-government before the Government’s deadlines. We are
glad to be working in association with ntl, and we are delighted
we’ll be working closely together to ultimately promote better
local government and improve services.”
Dave Ellis, Marketing Director of ntl’s business division said:
“Local government is increasingly looking for communications
providers to work in partnership with them to deliver the flexible,
functional and reliable infrastructure needed to underpin new
community services. We already work closely with our local
government partners and recognise the special relationship a
Council has with its citizens. In association with the LGA we look
forward to working with and debating the issues concerning
e-Government with the wider local government audience.”
