South west communications

A study into how the south west has become the 'wired west'

Overview

The south west of England has experienced a prosperous commercial period in recent years, driven both by the exodus of skilled people from other parts of the country and by many businesses establishing a significant regional presence there.

In many cases, this success has been driven by communications technology that enables the area to compete better on a national and international level. One of the primary examples of this is the decision by several major companies to locate large customer contact or call centres in the area, as well as moves by major financial institutions to locate large numbers of staff in the region's towns and cities.

Today, the south west region has become the 'wired west,' as more and more organisations look to use advanced communications services to drive their growth.
