Glossary terms
In some places where we have used a term that may not always be
familiar to you, we've provided a useful definition. If a word has
a dotted line beneath it (e.g.
IPVPN
) then you can place your mouse over it to see a full

Accessible website design
ntl:Telewest Business is committed to ensuring that its
website is accessible and inclusive to all users. Therefore, this
site has been designed and built to follow guidelines laid down by
the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), Royal National
Institute for the Blind (RNIB), and the Disability Discrimination
Act (DDA, Part III).
The guidelines include:
- Using meaningful ALT text for informational images

actions
- Using an easy to see web colour scheme, tested against
protanope, deuteranope, and tritanope colour-blindness
- Using an easy to read font type and colour
- Allowing user control of text sizes (see below)
- Avoiding the use of frames, which are difficult for special
browsers to interpret.
To enlarge text
If you want to alter the size of the text displayed on this site
you can change the option in your internet browser. Depending on
the browser you use, you may also be able to change the font and
background colour settings. These settings are usually found in the
'Options' or 'Preferences' menus.
Text only view
This site also supports a text-only for users with lower
specification browsers or for users with visual impairments. This
can be accessed in the top-righthand corner of the website.
New windows
Users may occasionally find that links open in a new window.
This will either be due to a link pointing to an external website
or to it opening up a new file type, such as flash or Adobe
PDF.

Using RSS news feeds
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a simple way of
allowing you to subscribe to new content from our website and
others. You can get the latest headlines as soon as they're
published, when you want them and how you want them.
How do I subscribe?
The first thing you'll need is a news reader, which will check
whether any new stories have been published. News readers can be
either installed on your computer or accessed through an online
service, such as Yahoo.com, Bloglines.com or Newsgator.com.
Once you've chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide
what content you want it to receive. You can then subscribe to our
RSS feeds in a number of ways, including the following:
- Drag the orange RSS button into your News Reader
- Drag the URL of the RSS feed into your News Reader
- Cut and paste the URL of the RSS feed into your News
Reader
As an example, go to http://www.bloglines.com/. Complete
the simple registration process and then click on the My Feeds tab.
Then click on the "add" link on the left. On the right you'll be
presented with a space for the Web site or feed URL. Paste
http://www.ntltelewestbusiness.co.uk/feeds/news.aspx
into that space and click on subscribe.
