Training

Needless to say you will require a good level of fitness to complete this challenge.  Additionally you will need to be able to navigate using maps and compass.

To be at the required level of fitness to be able to climb one of these mountains we estimate you will need to have completed the minimum following training:

week 1 - 3 mile hike
week 2 - 3 mile hike
week 3 - 4 mile hike
week 4 - 5 mile hike
week 5 - 5 mile hike
week 6 - 6 mile hike

We recommend that all team's complete the training plan to ensure the right level of fitness is achieved to complete the challenge and it's a great way to train with your team mates too!

All teams must demonstrate at least 1 training session together in the mountains prior to the event and all team members must have basic navigation skills (i.e. able to read a map and know their position using a 6 digit grid reference).

There are many resources available on the web regarding training and preparation for the National 3 Peaks Challenge. More information can be found at the sites listed on the External Links page.
