Event support
Mobile phone coverage around and on the peaks is at best patchy
and cannot be relied upon. In order to maintain contact with
the Control Points all teams will be equipped with commercial 2 way
radios, supplied by our sponsor ICOM UK. The Control points
will be located at the start and end points of each mountain; they
will be responsible for conducting equipment checks, time keeping
and maintaining safety records. Updates will be provided to the
Central Control room and the Blog
will be updated throughout the full duration of the
event.
Radios will be distributed to the teams at Ben Nevis, with
instruction for their use and basic radio procedure. The radios
will be collected at the finish point in Llanberis.
Each Control Point will be staffed by a minimum of 2 people.
In addition to the Control Points there will be Marshals at the
start/end points and peak of each mountain.
